Parents and Community

Even though Young Life is especially for kids, parents and other adults in the community are important to Young Life. Adults can support Young Life in a variety of ways — by becoming a volunteer leader or committee member, by attending a Young Life fund-raising event, by hosting Young Life or by simply telling others in the community about Young Life and its commitment to kids.

Keeping Kids Safe

An important part of our committment to kids is how we keep kids safe. Our staff and volunteer leaders know they are responsible for modeling lives of hope and integrity.  When we train our staff and leaders, we tell them to be "one third kid, and two-thirds adult," meaning that we're all about engaging kids "where they're at," but that we also have a continual eye toward safety and responsible behavior.  Our leaders view teenagers to be genuine friends, and consider themselves to be adult role models.

Getting Involved

Although Young Life is an international ministry, each local area depends on the voluntary involvement of the local community.  So we welcome your help!  We have a variety of projects and levels of involvement, and are committed to plugging volunteers into our organization in ways that fit the individual's schedule, interests, and abilities.  If you're interested in a no-pressure conversation about how/where/if you might fit, give us a call at the office.  We'll be happy to buy you a cup of coffee and chat!

Volunteer Leaders

If you care about teenagers, love the Lord, and have some gifts in working with kids, we'd love to have you join our team.  Note that each leader goes through an application/interview process, a background check, and training.  We require a one-year minimum commitment for volunteer leaders who work with kids.  Give us a call if you'd like to learn more.
